The alxBASE library is the fast xBase database engine and easy API for C++ programmers which supports dBASE, FoxPro and Clipper data files.

Opportunities of the it version:

1. DBF files are supported: dBASE III, Clipper 5.x, dBASE IV, Visual dBase 5.5, FoxPro 2.x, Visual FoxPro
2. Memo are supported: DBT (only dBASE III, Clipper), FPT
3. Indexes are supported: IDX (for uncompressed, only reading), CDX (reading and writing)
4. For index expressions can use more than 70 functions

News:

The library has been completely rewritten, now it can be used without library MFC. The parser is rewritten. Errors are corrected. Support NULL fields and binary memo fields is added. Work with memory is optimized. But not all opportunities present in the previous versions, are transferred in new version: a filtration of records, updating structure of tables, etc. Now it's in work.

Possible problems and ways of their decision:

1. In the given version are not supported locks, it can lead to to errors and infringement of integrity of the data if working in shared mode. It is recommended to open tables only in an exclusive mode.
2. If used extended code page (russian letters for example) processing of expressions can work not correctly if the selected code page mismatch the table used and in expressions exist functions depend on the code page (function: UPPER(), LOWER(), ISUPPER(), ISLOWER()...), it can lead to destruction of indexes and infringement of integrity of the data. For correct processing all expressions it is required that the established code page conform with the code page used in the table.
